Waterfalls have always fascinated us from the beginning as it’s the most beautiful natural phenomena. Sri Lanka in comparison to its size has perhaps the largest number of waterfalls for any country in the world. They constitute about a hundred, some of great height and others only a few meters. Many of which are so unknown, it’s hidden amongst jungles with very few people visiting. Hence, we decided to feature some waterfalls to our series of hidden treasures!
Located close to Koslanda and Wellawaya, the Diyaluma falls is the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka – 22o m to be exact!
Located towards the west of Nuwara Eliya. you’d find many waterfalls but the highest is the 109 m twin-fall, Panna Oya. This would most definitely leave you with a sense of awe with its most breathtaking views.
A 30 m waterfall of the Kuru Ganga,a tributary of the Kalu ganga. The river flows through thin woods and shrubs, making it an inviting place for picnics and refreshing river baths.
KOTMALE MAHAKANDURA FALL
Two waterfalls 10 m in height, located close to Thalawakele-Navalapitiya road. The thought of a riverbath by such cascading and tantalising waters never sounded more appealing
126 m fall located by the Maskeliya Oya in Indikatupahana. According to old tales, the waters of this fall was once where Lord Buddha sat on a rock to repair his robe making it sacred waters.
